TELEPHONE PHISHING SCAM
United Citizens Bank has been informed that several of our customers as well as customers from other local financial institutions have received what appear to be, automated telephone calls telling them their Debit Card(s) have been “Held” or that their card(s) have been “Blocked” etc.
THIS IS A TELEPHONE PHISHING SCAM.
PLEASE DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR UNITED CITIZENS BANK DEBIT CARD OR ANY OTHER PERSONAL OR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR ACCOUNTS WITH US. UNITED CITIZENS BANK EMPLOYEES WOULD NEVER REQUEST CARD OR ACCOUNT INFORMATION OR PIN NUMBERS FROM CUSTOMERS ON THE TELEPHONE.
The message requests the call recipient to enter their 16 digit card number into their telephone key pad and Personal Identification Number (PIN). This information is then used in order to gain access to customer accounts via ATM’s or Point of Sale Purchases. Please do not provide this information to anyone requesting this information via the telephone or by email.
If you received this Phishing telephone call and did provide your Debit Card account number and/or PIN to the caller or any other personal account information, please contact us immediately at 502-532-7392 or Toll Free at 800-223-2850, Monday – Friday 9:00 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. or Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon so that we can take action to protect your Debit Card(s) and ensure your account is secure.
After hours, please call 800-523-4175 for Star Debit Cards if you did provide information to these scam artists.
If you received this call and are not a United Citizens Bank customer, we suggest you contact your financial institution and verify that your account is secure with no unauthorized activity being attempted against it.
You should take every precaution to know with whom they are dealing with whether online or via the telephone. If you are unsure, cancel your online session immediately or please hang up on the caller. Please make contact with us and inform us if any of your information was provided during the call or session.
