Small Business Shoutout
Each month United Citizens will be giving a shoutout to a local business in our community. Now more than ever, it is important to support our community, and what better way than to boost our local businesses?
Parker Farm SupplyThis month’s Small Business Shoutout goes to Parker Farm Supply!
Parker Farm Supply is a family-owned business since October 2019. When Ben and Mandy Parker purchased the business in 2019, Ben was employed by Southern States as a manager and agronomist. He worked at Southern States for 20 years at several locations: LaGrange, Shelbyville, Owenton, and Georgetown. Mandy worked for the Cooperative Extension Service for 7 years before she resigned in 2009 to raise their two boys, Houston and Patrick. The Parkers also work on their family farm, where they raise cattle, hay, and sheep. Ben always wanted to own his own farm supply business, and in the summer of 2019 the opportunity arose to make that dream a reality! After purchasing the business, Ben built a bulk fertilizer plant and purchased a spreader and tender truck. Parker’s offers a wide selection of feed and mineral, seed, chemicals, and general farm supplies. The store has a restaurant that is open daily for breakfast and lunch and closes each day at 2:00 pm. They have also incorporated items that Mandy raises, such as flowers, vegetable plants, and meat that is used in the restaurant. The Parkers are so happy to be a part of Port Royal and Henry County! |
