Small Business Shoutout
Each month United Citizens will be giving a shoutout to a local business in our community. Now more than ever, it is important to support our community, and what better way than to boost our local businesses?
The Jericho FarmhouseWhen their family dairy farm was met with adversity, the Coombs family put their heads together and came up with a plan to keep their family farm in business. The solution? Ice cream! The family purchased a trailer which enabled them to have a mobile market for their homemade ice cream. When the Covid-19 pandemic shut down all of the festivals, events, and other gatherings, they set up the trailer at the edge of the farm and sold ice cream by the road. No matter the obstacle, the Coombses are determined to overcome it! The most important thing to the Coombses is keeping the farm in the family for the next generation, and it’s obvious that they have the determination to achieve just that!
Jericho Farmhouse will soon have a market right there on the farm. They are currently constructing a storefront in which they can sell their own farm products, as well as other local farmer’s products and produce. Head over to their website to learn more, and go out to get some yummy ice cream! It may be January but it’s never too cold for ice cream! https://jerichofarmhouse.com/ |

Burnett Farm ToysThis month’s Small Business Shoutout goes out to Burnett Farm Toys!
Building and collecting farm toys began as a childhood hobby for Christopher Burnett, and has grown into a substantial business with a brand-new storefront in Campbellsburg. When Christopher began selling farm toys as a side-job, he was an elementary school teacher. By 2010, he was able to grow the business into a full-time job, so he left teaching to focus on the business. At this time the business mainly operated at toy shows and through online sales. As the business finally outgrew the Burnett’s home, Christopher and his wife Alissa decided it was time to build a storefront. The building, finished in 2020, also has a warehouse and a workshop space for Christopher to build toys. Alissa helps out at the storefront when she can, and hopes to soon be able to work there full time! The Burnett’s are glad to now have a visual presence in the community. Check out their website, and if you’re in Campbellsburg, stop by and check out what they have to offer! Who knows, you may find a new hobby! https://burnettfarmtoys.com/ |
